Wage Act Violations

The Massachusetts Wage Act requires all Massachusetts employers to pay employees for all hours worked and to appropriately compensate employees for “overtime” hours. If a current or former employer failed to pay you earned wages, overtime, vacation pay, commissions or contractual bonuses, or misclassified you as an “independent contractor” in order to pay you less than you would be entitled to as an employee, you may be entitled to recover triple damages and your attorney fees.

Wrongful Termination/Discrimination

Massachusetts is an “at-will” employment state, meaning that generally speaking, both the employer and the employee can end the employment relationship for any reason or no reason at all. However, an employer cannot discriminate against or fire you for reasons which violate public policy, such as age, disability, gender/sexual orientation, religion, or ethnicity, nor can an employer reduce or eliminate your position due to pregnancy or time off taken under the Family Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”).

Client Testimonial

“Attorney Thurbide represented me against a former employer after they refused to pay me all my earned wages when I resigned. She kept me informed with regular updates and made sure I understood my options. Even though my lawsuit wasn't a big money case I always felt that my case was important to her. I got a great result and felt like my rights were fully vindicated. You don't need a big firm in Boston in order to have great representation. Attorney Thurbide has her clients’ best interests at heart.”
